DockDates is a dating app for people who love the lake, run by DockDates LLC. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain language on purpose.

Who can use DockDates

DockDates is only for adults 21 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21.

What we collect

Account details: your email address and password (your password is stored in a protected form we cannot read).
Profile details you choose to give us: first name, birthdate (we show your age, not your birthdate), gender and who you want to meet, your lake, a short bio, activities, what you are here for, and lifestyle answers such as kids, drinking, smoking, religion, work, height, and boat details.
Photos you upload to your profile.
Activity in the app: who you cast a line at or pass on, your matches, messages, invitations, event RSVPs, and blocks or reports you make.
Notification details: if you allow notifications, a token that lets us send them to your phone.

We do not collect your precise GPS location. Your lake is the lake you choose.

How we use it

To run the app: show your profile to other people at your lake, make matches, and deliver messages and invitations.
To keep people safe: review reports, block people, and check photos for explicit or violent content.
To email you about your account, such as confirming your email or resetting your password.
To send notifications, if you turn them on.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who can see what

Other members at your lake can see your profile: photos, name, age, bio, and the profile answers you filled in.
Only you and the person you match with can see your messages and invitations.
People you block cannot see you or message you.
Your Float Plan is private to you.

Services that help us run DockDates

We use trusted companies to provide parts of the app. They handle information only to provide their service to us:

Supabase for our database, sign-in, and photo storage.
Resend for account emails.
OpenAI for an automatic safety check of uploaded photos.
Expo for push notifications.
Mailchimp for the waitlist email list on our website.

Your choices

Edit your profile and photos any time in the app.
Delete your account in the app (Me tab, then Delete my account). This permanently removes your profile, photos, matches, messages, and invitations.
Notifications can be turned off in your phone settings.
Waitlist emails have an unsubscribe link in every message.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove it from the app. Some records may stay in backups for a short time, or be kept where the law or safety requires.

Security

We use industry-standard tools to protect your information, but no service can promise perfect security.

Changes

If we make important changes to this policy, we will tell you in the app or by email.
